I do not always document periods of my personal life with a blog post. And though all days and moments have meaning.. I wanted to really capture the emotions and the impressions that this trip has on me. I want you all to experience this place through images and captions.. some are in the Haviv home---intimate and others are just scenes we happened upon. Be prepared for a cat photo or two as well. (Or five).
I met my husband almost seven years ago. I had never really known anyone from Israel before... or someone of Jewish heritage for that matter. My relationship with him has opened my heart to new family and places. I feel at home here. From the food from my mother in law's kitchen, to the cats roaming the streets of Tel Aviv, I am definitely in my element. Our first days were spent celebrating Rosh hashanah (the Jewish New Year). We each had symbolic foods placed in front of us, and we would taste each one after the blessing. Apples, Honey, Black Eyed Peas, Leek Cakes, Challah bread and fish were part of the ritual. You can read more about the symbolism here.
